TV | Breaking Bad

Any other Breaking Bad fans out there??

I had to throw a post in about this as it was such an amazing programme, I wanted to share the love with you all.

I'd never heard of it before earlier this year James came home and said we had to watch a new U.S. series on Netflix.
'It's about some guy who has cancer and starts making and selling Meth to make money to leave for his family..' he said. Hmm okay. Didn't really sound like my kind of thing, but I love nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa and watching marathons of TV series so I gave it a go.

We were soon hooked!

AMC say...
'Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.'

Each season was fantastic and unlike many TV series, it wasn't predictable at all.
We caught up pretty quickly then waited patiently for the final season to air on Netflix. Monday nights were Breaking Bad nights. As soon as Bradley was in bed we'd break out the chocolate and watched each weeks episode. It got better and better. I had a bit of a crush on the lovely Aaron Paul who played Jesse Pinkman, which made viewing even better!
The creator, Vince Gilligan is an absolute legend. His writing during these series never failed to amaze me. It was such an exciting story line.
I don't want to give anything away, particularly to those that haven't yet watched. But I loved the relationship between Walt & Jesse, such an unlikely duo between a 50+ year old, family-orientated chemistry teacher and a screwed up, small time drug dealer, who happened to be an ex-student.
I loved the excitement of whether Walt's family; particularly his DEA brother in law, would ever find out about his secret life, what would happen to him and his battle with cancer and whether the people that screwed him over would get their comeuppance. Throughout the series, shows would often start with a flash-forward clip which made you wonder, discuss and question what it meant, what had happened. It was truly addictive. I loved it. And James & I are totally gutted that it's over, although the finale was amazing!

Would I recommend it?
Most definitely. It is so easy to quickly fall in love with the show, the characters and the story line. The show is beautifully written, if you haven't already - get yourself onto Netflix and watch from the beginning!
