Beauty | White Orchid Nail Art

I had to share these with you!
A while ago, a friend of mine showed me her amazing nails she had from White Orchid Nail Art
Amazing, hand painted false nails, they looked fantastic, really original. She'd had a 'tattoo' style design and it suited her personality perfectly! She liked them so much she ordered another set - a 50's / Elvis style design.

She found them really easy to put on and she had no end of compliments at the wedding she wore them to, even the Vicar's wife loved them! ;) They gave her outfit the perfect finishing touch.

I couldn't resist popping onto their website to see what other designs were available.

White Orchid Nail Art say...
'Beautiful hand painted, artificial nails. I paint sets that are ready to buy and ready to apply in minutes. All my nails take between 3 and 7 hours to complete. I hand paint individually with as much care as possible.
I offer a bespoke nail design service, working alongside you to give you the best design possible. I can match any fancy dress outfit, wedding or party design even down to baby shower nails.
I will try my best to create a set of nails that are suitable to each individual.'

I fell in love with the designs, there really is something for everyone, every personally and every outfit!!

The lovely, extremely talented artist behind White Orchid, Colette, very kindly agreed to design and create my very own custom design nails to show you all.
I was really excited to see what she came up with...

What do you think? Aren't they fab! They're so me, and I can't wait to try them out!! I haven't yet found the right occasion to wear them, but I'll be sure to let you know how I find them when I do!

The detail is amazing, look at the little butterflies! Hard to believe they were hand painted! The quality feels great, and the sets come complete with nail glue for application.

They have some amazing festive designs available right now, for an amazing £10 a set - check them out!! They'd make fantastic Christmas presents!
I have my eye on the snowflake ones!! :)

Visit White Orchid Nail Art at their Facebook page here.

Which designs are your favourites??

TV | Samantha Who?

I love getting into a new Netflix series. After a busy day with work, house work, mummy duties and squeezing in a social life, I love nothing more than an early night snuggling into my duvet and relaxing with a bit of telly entertainment!!

I stumbled upon 'Samantha Who?' and was soon hooked.
'Samantha Who?' is an American sitcom featuring Christina Applegate, who I've loved since I watched 'The Sweetest Thing' back in 2002. It was co-created and produced by Cecelia Ahern who wrote my favourite ever book 'PS I Love You' and is Nicky Byrne's (Westlife) sister in law - random fact for you there! ;)

So, the programme is based around a 30-year old woman called Samantha (Christina Applegate) who develops retrograde amnesia after a car accident.
Sam wakes up not knowing anything about herself or her past or anything about the people around her.
Before the accident she was a seemingly selfish, self obsessed and pretty unlikeable but successful business woman. She wakes up a much better person and sets out to become a nicer daughter, friend and girlfriend whilst dealing with flashbacks from the past and her memory starting to come back.

Well I loved it, it's laugh out loud funny and a great story line too. It has a fab line up of characters and is the perfect balance between being a perfect comedy and following a story of reinvention, relationships and self reflection.
Christina Applegate plays the role perfectly,  and her on - off boyfriend played by Barry Watson, was rather cute! ;)

Would I Recommend It?
I think it's a real girly series, but there are plenty of laughs and some eye candy to keep your other halves happy too! There are 2 series to enjoy, so if you enjoy a funny and charming comedy, def give it a watch!!

'Samantha Who' is currently available to watch on Netflix.

Have you seen 'Samantha Who'?
Any recommendations on any other Netflix series I can get into??

#TheWinterProject - Winter Scents

Welcome to my second post of The Winter Project, founded and set up by Kellie from Blog95Beauty.

Read my previous posts...
#TheWinterProject - Introduction
#TheWinterProject - Winter Nails

#TheWinterProject - Winter Accessories

So today we're looking at Winter Scents...

In terms of perfume, these 2 make me think of 'Winter' over other fragrances in my collection. I think it's probably down to these being bought for me for Christmas and therefore wearing them lots over the Winter period. I always seem to choose these over others during this time of year.

D&G 3 L'Imperatrice  (£38.50) is a gorgeous fragrance. It's feminine, classy and lasts forever!!
Jimmy Choo (£33.50) is another feminine, floral scent that's perfect for every day wear.

These 2 beauties are just perfect for Winter! Especially 'Snow Fairy' - I'm expecting this lil madam to pop up in many of these posts. I broke my Spending Ban to get my hands on this! ;)

The Body Shop Chocomania Shower Cream (£2.00) smells good enough to eat - it's like having a bath in hot chocolate. Well, you get my jist! ;) It's made with real cocoa butter and has an amazing chocolately scent - perfect for cold winter nights!!
Lush Snow Fairy (£6.85) is an adorable creamy pink shower gel that smells of bubble gum and candy floss yumminess! Only available over the Christmas period, the smell of Snow Fairy just screams 'Winter'!! It's amazing stuff!!

Yankee Candles do some amazing scents over the Winter period. Read my Seasonal Lust List post for some fab ideas. I picked up some of their wax tarts for my burner. They don't last very long at all, but they're a cheaper alternative and it's good to try the tarts out before splashing out on the bigger candles. Burn them for a few hours and the fragrance lingers around your home for days afterwards.

Salted Caramel (£1.25) - this was a bit overpowering. It's quite a sweet, vanilla caramel scent. The after smell was nice and lingered around my home for a day or so afterwards, but whilst it was burning it did smell a bit too much.
Snowflake Cookie (£1.25) - this is a yummy cookies and icing scent, one of my favourites!!
Honey & Spice (£1.25) - I got this as it was on offer, but we didn't really like it. It wasnt a great fragrance.
Merry Marshmallow (£1.25) - I've yet to use this one, but I'm looking forward to it - I'm promised yummy marshmallow and vanilla which sounds lush!

That's my take on Winter Scents. Join me next week to talk Christmas Present Idea.

So, lets take a look at My Skin.
(Welcome to my almost naked face!!)

I won't lie, I used to suck at looking after my skin. And now I'm almost 30, my skin is definitely paying for it. And wanna know a secret? I use face wipes to remove my make up. Yes really. I can hear you all gasping from here.
But not just make up wipes alone, I like to remove my eye make up with them. But I do follow with a proper cleanser and cleansing routine. Most of the time ;)
I haven't been the best at looking after my skin in the past. I didn't have a regular routine, I'd just slap on the odd cleanser or moisturiser every now and then. And in turn my face repaid me which a bunch of spots, and a few fine lines. Revenge at it's best. I think I was just lazy, or thought I didn't need to.

For the first 2 years of being with my boyfriend, I actually slept with my make up on and removed it in the morning!! How awful. My poor skin! Nowadays, 4-5 years on, the boyfriend gets to see me make-up less (poor him!) and I'm trying to make up for all the lack of love I've shown my beloved skin.

Unfortunately, I've only really started to look after my skin, properly, with a thorough skincare routine since earlier this year. And I can massively tell the difference! I wish I'd have started a lot sooner.
I was about 27-28 when I first realised I needed to start taking better care of my skin, especially since I'd been using make up since my teens, and wear a full face of make up without fail, every single day.
I've always looked quite young for my age, so I didn't really think I needed to worry. Wrong. I'm now the unfortunate owner of some forehead lines, some quite prominent frown lines in between my brows (I squint a lot, and find myself frowning whilst I'm concentrating), some dark circles under my eyes, and some rather annoying, extremely obvious smile lines around my mouth (I feel as though I'm being punished for smiling - selfish or what?!)

My skin has been so much better since I've been looking after it better. It's a lot clearer, even a friend commented on how great my skin was looking lately. I think it's down to a better routine, properly removing make up and impurities, good products, and a good brush cleaning routine - all of these very important, yet I was pretty naive to it.

My skin type is a mixture of combination and sensitive. Clearly I pulled the short straw with that one! It's a tricky one to handle. And I'm still learning what works, and what doesn't.
So, I have a slightly oily t-zone (not overly shiny or greasy, fortunately, but slightly oily) My cheeks waver between dry to normal, depending on the time of the month, or the weather. It can also be quite sensitive and can easily become irritated by certain products.
I am prone to the odd spot, only 1 or 2, usually on my chin area, at certain points of my cycle. But they only last a couple of days and clear up pretty fast, so it's not a problem for me.

I'm looking forward to talking about all the different steps of Skincare, what I'm currently using, and reading all your tips and product recommendations over the coming weeks of this project! :)

So, that's pretty much My Skin. Join me next week to talk Cleansing

Life - My Week [Nov17-24]

Hey beauties,

I actually think this week has flew by! It's turned immensley cold this week, I'm not a fan of this weather - wahhh!!!
Had some positive news this week, hopefully I'll be able to share it with you soon - but just keep your  fingers crossed for me for the next few months!!

I've been trying to get my Christmas shopping together this week, it's coming together nicely, still a way to go though!
We went to see the Christmas lights being switched on in town last Sunday, it was really nice - I'm really beginning to get into the Christmas spirit, so we've thrown on a few Christmas movies this week too :)

This week also marked an occasion that bought back my teenage years - ticket stress!! Tickets went on sale for my boys the Backstreet Boys this week. They've been a massive part of my life since I was 12-13, and the stress of getting decent tickets to see them this week took me right back!! :)

Also went to see The Hunger Games Catching Fire this weekend, I enjoyed it. Although I wish I'd have re-watched the 1st one beforehand to remind me of the story line.

I'm looking forward to my blog project #TheSkinProject going live tonight at 6pm - I hope you decided to get involved!! :)

Spending Ban Update - So I bought a Lush Snow Fairy last weekend - but hey, it's one of the most important purchases of the season!! :) So I failed again. Oops. But I have Emma's #EastMidsMeetUp next weekend, followed by The Clothes Show the following weekend which I'll be having a major splurge at. But I think I've done pretty well lately ;)

Some pictures from this week...

Favourite Product of the Week...
I've been using John Frieda's Full Repair shampoo & conditioner, and it's made my hair feel super soft! Definitely my favourite product this week!

Favourite Fragrance of the Week...
I've been loving using my The Body Shop Choco Mania Shower Cream this week, it's the most perfect and yummy fragrance for this season - it smells like hot chocolate it the bath - love it!! :)

Favourite Bit of the Week...
Getting some positive news, big weight off my shoulders. Snuggling with my boys watching Christmas movies.

What I Learnt this Week...
There might be a light at the end of the tunnel after all. Fingers crossed.

Song of the Week...
Backstreet Boys new single - 'Show Em What You Made Of'. The boys were here in the UK last weekend promoting their new single. Unfortunately I couldn't go down and see them, which I was a bit gutted about as I haven't seen them ages!

Favourite TV of the Week...
Well it has to be 'I'm A Celeb' right - I've been loving Joey Essex, he's just hilarious!

Favourite Tweet of the Week...
'I really need a day between Saturday and Sunday'@Laughbook
Says it all.

Have a fab week guys!!

Beauty | Aromawakening: Dead Sea Salt Scrub

I love a good scrub, if you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know this. I have no time for those 'exfoliating' creams with the tiny micro beads in that you can hardly feel on your skin. Nope, I want to actually feel the scrub scrubbing my skin.
I exfoliate my skin every 3 days, it's a big part of my routine. Exfoliation is super important, to remove dead skin cells, especially in this cold weather for turning winter-weary skin to smooth, radiant, fresh skin.

I've been trying out a new scrub over the past couple of weeks.
Introducing Aromawakening's Dead Sea Salt Scrub

Aromawakening say...
'This invigorating blend of Dead Sea Salt & Organic Oils gives a spa like treatment at a fraction of the cost. I love the beautifying benefits of dead sea salt. It has been used for generations to heal a number of skin conditions due to its mineral rich content. Scrubbing with sea salt stimulates the circulation, drawing out impurities and removing toxins from the skin. The anti-bacterial action of this scrub helps to prevent breakouts and is great for treating mild to moderate acne. Almond and Sunflower seed oils are loaded with skin loving vitamins, these soften and nourish the skin. This recipe contains Organic Lavender & Rosemary Essential oils which are fresh herbaceous and uplifting.'

The lovely people at Aromawakening, a small business specialising in natural, organic skincare & vegan soap, sent me a lovely parcel of goodies to try out.
It arrived packaged in this cute cardboard and tied with straw, giving it a real homemade, country feel, making this a perfect gift!
Removing the packaging revealed a glass jar, with the information on one side. How lovely!!
I just love the way this scrub feels on my skin. Even though it's pure sea salt, it doesn't feel too rough or harsh, it has a happy medium between sea salt and oils, meaning my skin is being scrubbed, working it's magic to smooth out my skin, and also being protected, nourished and moisturised by the yummy almond oils.
Usually, after a scrub like this, I need to work extra hard at moisturising afterwards, but the oils left on my skin meant moisturising wasn't a necessary - which was great news since I'd ran out of my beloved body butter last week!! :)
On the other hand, the oils didn't feel overly oily or greasy on my skin. It sunk into my skin just nicely.
I'm a huge fan of this scrub, it's amazing stuff. And knowing that it's not only removing and renewing my skin, it also contains fab ingredients to draw out any nasty impurities and toxins and preventing breakouts. I grew up suffering with quite bad Keratosis Pilaris (also known as Chicken Skin) on the tops of my legs and arms, I still get it on my arms now and then, hence why exfoliating is of big importance for me. I believe that this scrub would've really helped my skin growing up, I wish I'd have stumbled upon this as a teenage girl!! :)
The only negative I can find of this product is the fragrance. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't smell bad. But lavender, for me, reminds me of, hmm, how can I describe it, it's a scent more suited to older people I think. That said, it's still a fantastic scrub, one of the best I've tried in a long time. It's a real treat for the feet, knees and elbows!! :)

Would I Recommend It?
Oh most definitely. I think this scrub would suit pretty much everyone. But particularly those that may suffer with breakouts due to the anti-bacterial action. It would also make for a great gift, as the jar and packaging are amazingly cute!!

Would I Repurchase It?
Yes I would! As a treat now and then, I'll definitely be picking a jar up in the future!!

Aromawakening's Dead Sea Salt Scrub in Rosemary & Lavender is available for £8.95 at

#TheWinterProject - Winter Nails

So today we're looking at Winter Accessories...

Winter Accessories

HOW cute are they!!! Love them all. My current favourites right now are...

I love my leather gloves from Primark, they're perfect for everyday wear and keep my hands snuggly warm!

This big chunky knit snood is also from Primark, I needed a new one and picked it up during a big winter accessory shop in Primark a few weeks back.

I love woollen headbands, I have a few and this is one also from Primark with a cute little bow.

Fingerless mittens are perfect, as they keep your fingers nice and warm but allowing your fingers easy access for when you need them! ;)

That's my take on Winter Accessories. Join me next week to talk Winter Scents.

Life | My Week [Nov10-16]

Hiyaaa!! :)

It's been a COOOOOLLLLD week right!! Winter is well and truly on it's way! Brr!!
It hasn't been a very exciting week, just got up to the usual really! Other than making Christmas plans. I've been trying to get back on track and on top of my work load at work, it really set me back having those 2 weeks off after my surgery last month. I'm feeling the strain on my wage packet too!! :\

I also started a brand new Blogger Project this week, based around Skincare. To find out more, read my introduction post.

I've been really slacking with my night time skincare routine this week. When it gets cold I get much more tired and while I usually begin my routine by using a make up wipe [dont judge me! ;)], as I find it's the best way to remove my eye make up, I then follow with the whole cleanse, tone, serum, eye cream & moisturiser. But this week I've been really lazy and just fallen sleep after the quick wipe! I really need to get back on it this week!!

Spending Ban Update - Okay so I kinda failed! I'd ran out of body butter, and I hadn't used any for over a week and I was desperate for some!! I mean, c'mon - body butter is as important as your 5 a day! ;) ...And I also picked up a Sleek Contour Kit I'd been after, but ssh! ;)

Some pictures from this week...
On the way home from the in-laws on Sunday, I convinced James to nip onto the M1 so we can pick up some Krispy Kremes from the service station, yum yum!! :) | So I started #TheSkinProject this week - are YOU getting involved? | I won a Freebie Friday competition on Twitter from the lovely Miners Cosmetics, who sent me these yummy Cocktail flavoured lip glosses, yay!! | Bradley came home from his Dad's Thursday evening telling me he had to wear something spotty to school for Children In Need, we didn't have the time to decorate anything so we quickly stuck coloured sticker dots onto a school top - perfect! ;)

Favourite Product of the Week...
I've been using Aromawakening's Dead Sea Salt Scrub this week, it's AMAZING stuff, look out for a full review post later in the week.

Favourite Fragrance of the Week...
Can't get enough of Soap & Glory's Butter Yourself body lotion - yum yum!!

Favourite Bit of the Week...
The best bits this week have simply been times that I've snuggled up in the warm with my boys <3

What I Learnt this Week...
Not to let irrelevant people affect me or my life..

Song of the Week...
I've been listening to the Disney CD at work this week and one of my most favourite Disney songs is 'Reflection' by Mulan. Christina Aguilera sings it, it's such a lovely song - I've been singing it all week!!

Favourite Blogpost of the Week...
I've been on the hunt for a new shampoo & conditioner that'll help my dry hair and rescue my bleached ends, after reading That's Peachy's Tor's John Frieda Hydrate & Rescue Deep Conditioner post, she explains how her hair felt better, shinier and how she felt a difference in her bleached ends, this sounds exactly what I need so I went out the next day and purchased the Full Repair shampoo & conditioner in the hope that it'd do the same for me. I'm hoping it's decent stuff - I'll let you know how I get on.

Favourite TV of the Week...
I came to the end of my lil Netflix addiction - Samantha Who. I loved these series, I may even do a post about it soon!

Favourite Tweet of the Week...
'My lovely gift from the lovely . so happy!🎁' - @meganmanneh
I sent my Secret Santa gift this week, and Megan seemed so chuffed with it, it made my week she liked it!! :)

Catch up on this weeks blogposts...

Wrap up warm this week guys, it's gonna be a cold one!!!

#TheSkinProject - Wanna Get Involved???

Fancy being a part of a new Blogger Project??
I've been meaning to do a blog series around Skincare for a while, and since recent projects have done so well, I wondered if people fancied joining in and doing it too?
I started a small anti-ageing project that, due to the age of the majority of my audience, didn't really take off so well. I wondered if widening the topic to Skincare would be more beneficial...

Anyone can join in, I'd love to see some of you take part and I'm really looking forward to reading what products you're all using to get amazing skin!!

I understand that the project runs over Christmas & people may be very busy, but hopefully we can schedule posts to fit in with our busy festive schedules! Let's see how we get on!

The last 2 posts will be posted by myself, with your input.
I will be organising a Question & Answer interview with a Skincare Expert - so send in all your skincare queries! I'll send more information near the time, so make sure you're on the mailing list!
