Baby Shower Gift Ideas with My 1st Years

I couldn't make my friends baby shower so I threw her a little baby shower lunch when she came down to visit last weekend.

I ummed and arred over what gifts to buy her for a while.
Clothes? What size should I get? What if she doesn't like what I buy? Toys? What if she already has lots of toys? Cuddly toys? Too boring?

Fortunately, My 1st Years* were on hand with some gorgeous gift options. Now, I LOVE My 1st Years, you may've read my review of their beautiful personalised blanket here.

My 1st Years are an online gift store, priding themselves on providing unique, one of a kind, high quality baby gifts. They promise a great choice of products, a fantastic service, a next day delivery option for those last minute presents and above all ...happy customers!

They have pages of gifts, from blankets and bibs to robes and keepsakes, and the majority of items can be personalised, which makes them one of a kind. I bought a couple of their personalised vests as christmas gifts and they were really happy with them.

I decided on this Personalised Baby Photo Album.

Isn't it beautiful?
A cream photo album, perfect for a boy or girl, with beautiful raised lettering and jewel encrusted silver 3D shapes, held together with a silky soft ribbon. The unique finishing touch is the silver plaque, beautifully engraved with baby's name.

The photo album includes an All About Me page and approx. 100 sleeves.

This album has unfortunately ran out of stock, but they have this gorgeous baby shower album available, which is super cute!!

Alongside the photo album, I put together 2 gift baskets; one for Mummy to be, Kelly, and one for baby, Emmie.
I bought 2 cute baskets from Asda, that can be used once baby is born [I have these exact ones under Taylor's changing table] and filled them with little gifts.

I filled the baby basket with body suits, sleep suits, bibs, dummies, scratch mitts, a bottle and selection of baby toiletries.

I filled Kelly's basket with things to help her through the last few weeks of pregnancy; some Lush products for some relaxing and pampering, some cooling bump mist, pregnancy Spanx, to help rock those outfits over the last few weeks, and I made some fun little vouchers for her such as 'FREE FOOT MASSAGE', 'LOTS OF CHOCOLATE', 'DAY OFF FROM THE HOUSEWORK'... etc.

Have you found a perfect Baby Shower Gift lately?

Mama Loves Handmade: Teething Necklaces | Review

Teething sucks, right? If you're anything like me you own 989867 different teething gels and powders and you purchase a new teething toy whenever you see one! [okay, a little exaggerated maybe, but you see my point ;)
Taylor cut 2 teeth at 4 months old, and it feels like we've been teething forever! So I'm all for anything to help take the pain away and numb those little gums!

When this teething necklace from Mama Loves Handmade* popped through my door, I was super happy to give it a go!

'Mama loves handmade is all about handmade teething / nursing/ babywearing necklaces for mamas. All necklaces are made of Eco natural wood and silicone beads which are BPA free and have FDA and LFGB certification. Beads are heat-resistant, high temperature resistant, non-toxic, odorless and easily cleaned with soap and warm water. We use satin cords and breakaway clasps for added security or sliding knot which aloud to change the length of necklace.'

It came wrapped in this adorable little bag, tied with string to give it that lovely handmade feel.

I got to choose my own colours, so of course I went for blues and white for my mini Leicester City fan. ;)

The necklace consists of eco natural juniper wood and food grade silicone beads, I'm not going to lie, I had to have a little chew myself, haha!

The necklaces are designed for Mums to wear, for babies to have access to teething material on the go. They make a fantastic distraction when needed too...

The day that I received the necklace, I wore it for a trip shopping with my Mum, and had a bit of a 'hungry baby, bottle still too hot' situation, which is always a stressful few minutes as any Mum knows. And the whole food court was soon realising that Taylor wasn't a happy bunny!! :) So while my Mum went to cool the bottle down, I bought his attention to my necklace. And he was soon chewing away on the beads, taking his mind off anything else.

I did panic a little about the wood. Wouldn't he get splinters? But after reading into juniper wood, I realised how safe it is and that it is used for teething materials all over the world. It is a soft wood, which makes it perfect for teething.

The necklaces are available in different colours, shapes and sizes, and you can be rest assured that all materials are totally safe for baby.

Chemist Direct haul

I don't know about you but when the weather is cold and rainy, the last thing I want to do is venture out, especially with a baby in tow! But when you need supplies and you're running low on baby formula, you have no choice.

What about when you're under the weather, and you have nothing in the medicine cupboard to help?

That's when Chemist Direct* comes in.

'Chemist Direct is one of the largest online pharmacies providing customers with affordable health and beauty products along with a huge range of wellbeing services, whilst giving tips and advice provided by our fully qualified in-house GP’s and pharmacists who can help customers with any queries regarding illness and medicines. With a huge selection of up to date products for customers to choose from, departments range from Healthcare to Fragrance and Beauty. Founded in 2008 the company has grown rapidly in recent years and now delivers to over one million customers all around the globe.' - Chemist Direct website.

The website is super easy to navigate, with clear departments to choose from, they seem to stock everything from healthcare and toiletries to pet care and travel.
I quickly noticed that a lot of things were a lot cheaper than their usual RRP, and many items were available as offers too.

Delivery takes just a few days and is free if over £35 or a UK prescription order.

Take a look at what I ordered:

£9.99 (RRP £10.59)
Taylor has really dry skin, so I bought this to pop in his bath to see if it helped.

£2.11 (RRP £2.29)
I've heard great things about this teething gel, so had to pick some up... I'll try anything at this point! :)

£6.29 (RRP £6.99)
I love the idea of this for when Taylor drops his dummy while we're out, perfect to keep in the changing bag.

£10.99 (RRP £12.99)
I've wanted to try this for a while as I've heard good things about it, so lets see what the fuss is about!

£5.59 (RRP £6.99)
I picked this up simply because it looked fab and I bought the matching shampoo and conditioner too. :)

Shampoo £4.79 (RRP £5.99)
Condiitoner £5.09 (RRP £5.99)
I'm always on the look out for new hair products and I hadn't come across these before, yet thought they looked lush, so I've bought them to give them a try.

£2.69 (RRP £3.16)
Bradley loves fruity scented shampoo, so I picked up this tropical mango fragranced one for him, it smells amazing!

Bradley is getting older, and beginning to become more aware of his body changing, he does a lot of sport and is active a lot, and has started to... lets just say 'smell like a teenage boy!!' so I bought this for him to help.

£5.69 (RRP £7.99)
I loved the look of this, we're BLW with Taylor so this is perfect for fruit purees and juices and also helps numb those sore gums!

£5.29 (RRP £6.50)
We love a teether right now, and I love the MAM ones as they double up as toys too.

I was super happy with the products I received, how quick they arrived and the wide range of products they have on offer.

An online pharmacy delivering health and beauty products, at fab prices, direct to your door! I'll definitely be using Chemist Direct again!

January Empties & Mini Reviews

Hi guys,

I'm a little late posting this as life has been a bit hectic lately but these are the products I finished during January and what I thought of them...

I swear by this stuff, it is amazing! It's since changed it's branding so looks a little different now. I've got bottles of the stuff. I use it as part of my evening skincare routine and it leaves my skin clear and keeps my skin toned.
Would I recommend? Yes yes yes! Fab product!
Would I repurchase? Over and over!

I don't use face wipes, but I picked these up for my hospital bag for when I had Taylor, and I've used them since for occasions when I've ran out of micellar water, or for makeup mishaps.
Would I recommend? For cheap face wipes if you're travelling or something, they're perfect, not too dry - great value product!
Would I repurchase? Again, Id definitely buy again if I needed quick makeup removal for occasions such as travelling.

Bath & Body

I got this trial size body butter in my advent calendar, I do love shea butter, a creamy nutty scent that leaves the skin feeling well moisturised.
Would I recommend? Yes, The Body Shop body butter are THE best, and shea butter is a great fragrance, not too over powering, just lovely!
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Again, another from the advent calendar, the shower cream to accompany the body butter. The shower creams are lovely and moisturising, I'm a huge fan of their shower creams!!
Would I recommend? Yes, they're lush!!
Would I repurchase? Always!

This smells AH-MAYZING!!! I can't explain what a gorgeous product this is, it smells so luxurious, BUT this little bottle from my advent calendar let me down, as the product is so thick, it wouldn't come out of the bottle, even when I removed the lid I couldn't get the product out well. And you can see by the bottle, it took some squeezing, and there is still a lot of product in there!
Would I recommend? The full size, most definitely.
Would I repurchase? Yes!

I received this in a gift box with other Humphrey products. It's a super cute range and didn't dry out Taylor's skin too much like other baby products.
Would I recommend? They make really lovely gifts!
Would I repurchase? I'd use this product again, but I'd like to try out some other baby brands to find one really suitable for his dry skin.

Taylor has dry skin so I purchased this as I remembered using this with Bradley as a baby too. I was expecting it to clear his dry skin so was really disappointed when it actually made it worse! He was left with sore, red blotches all over his body. Bradley uses Taylor's bath water afterwards and he ended up with sore, red blotches all over his bottom afterwards. I was really shocked.
Would I recommend? This reaction could possibly contain an ingredient that my boys may be allergic to rather than there being something wrong with the product, but that said I still wouldn't recommend you try it incase the same happens.
Would I repurchase? No.

I love a felt tip liner and always pick one up if I see a new one I want to try. This one reminded me of an American brand one I adored, but I was disappointed when it dried up after just a few weeks, as it was a great liner.
Would I repurchase? No, there are better out there that last longer than a few weeks.
Would I recommend? For the fact it dried out so quick, no I wouldn't.

MAC Eye Brows (£13.50)
The perfect brow pencil. It defines, its long lasting, and is self propelling so no need for a sharpener. It's fab. I'm currently on the look for a drugstore dupe, but so far it's still coming out on top!!
Would I recommend? Yes!
Would I repurchase? If I can't find a decent dupe to rival, then yes I'll continue to repurchase.

Aidor Eyebrow Makeup
This was the first eyebrow makeup I ever used. It came with a brush and a selection of stencils. It was fab, didn't smudge and was easy to use. It's had its day now and needs to be thrown out. I can no longer find this brand anywhere other than abroad, so am unsure how much it costs but there are many brands very similar to this one.
Would I recommend? A powder with stencils is probably perfect if you're just starting out with brow make up or aren't confident free handing with a pencil.
Would I recommend? I prefer a pencil nowadays.

I was bought this by a friend and it was soon my favourite go to product for a nude sheen on the lips. A really moisturising lip product with a gorgeous wash of colour, it's a lovely product! Think Baby Lips, these are very similar!
Would I recommend? Yes, they're beautiful to use!
Would I repurchase? Yes!

Did you get through many products last month?
